Whatever people are thinking, writing about or promoting if they can not go to the scripture and back up their ideas then their ideas are merely speculation. It doesn't matter what the translation is or the source as long as those people can go to a source that is accessable to anyone else.

Jesus discusses this regarding, "The paths are many but the truth is one."

14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
